Fixings, furniture and painting

A cabinet door rubs against the next front. Can I adjust it?

An intact hinge may need adjustment, but mounting screws and adjustment screws do different jobs.

NAPREMO guide · Updated: 4 November 2026.

What you can do

  1. Remove anything obstructing closure and inspect the hinge and its mounting.
  2. Find the hinge model and instructions; adjust only the specified screw in small increments.
  3. Check by closing and reopening the door. Do not remove mounting screws or unclip the hinge.

How to tell whether it helped

The front should move freely and the hinge remain secure. Needing to lift the door by hand suggests another problem.

When to stop

Stop for torn-out holes, a hinge pulling away from the board, a heavy front or uncertainty about the adjustment screw.

How NAPREMO can help

NAPREMO can adjust the front or repair its mounting. Send photos of the whole front and the hinge inside the cabinet.
