What you can do
- Choose tape for the surface and test it first. Do not apply to flaking or insufficiently cured paint.
- Follow both paint and tape instructions, including removal timing and maximum adhesion time.
- Peel slowly at the specified angle, close to the surface. Stop pulling if paint rises with it.
How to tell whether it helped
A sound edge remains even. Prepare lifted areas for repair instead of covering them with more tape.
When to stop
If layers peel off in sheets, broader surface preparation is needed.
