What you can do
- Check whether an inner pot with holes sits in a solid outer pot. Empty collected water only if the container is light and safe to move.
- Inspect the accessible outlet externally. Remove loose leaves blocking it without piercing the rootball.
- If there is no outlet or compost stays compacted and wet, plan repotting into a suitable container. Do not drill a planted pot as a trial.
How to tell whether it helped
At the next normal watering, excess should drain freely without the base remaining submerged in the outer pot.
When to stop
Do not lift heavy pots alone or balance them on railings. Root rot needs assessment of plant and compost.
How NAPREMO can help
NAPREMO GREEN can help repot and position large planters. Show the pot, outlet and location.
