What you can do
- Identify the model and read its instructions. Protect the sill and remove accessible dust with a soft brush or cloth.
- Wipe the casing only as permitted. Keep water and solvents away from the sensor.
- Refit properly and leave the inlet unobstructed in its specified setting. Do not alter internal parts blindly.
How to tell whether it helped
The casing should be secure and inlet clear. Cleanliness alone does not prove the whole ventilation system works.
When to stop
Seek assessment for damage or continuing problems. Never test airflow with a flame.
