Buildings and shared areas

A railing or handrail moves. What should I do?

A railing prevents falls. Its visible surface does not reveal every anchor's condition.

NAPREMO guide · Updated: 4 November 2026.

What you can do

  1. Do not lean on it or shake it to test strength. Restrict access from the safe side.
  2. Photograph the whole area and visible damage without leaning over to inspect underneath.
  3. Notify the manager for shared property. Do not improvise repairs with silicone, foam or random screws.

How to tell whether it helped

Tightening alone does not certify safety. Restore access after competent assessment and repair.

When to stop

Keep people away from fall or falling-part hazards. Call 112 for immediate danger.

How NAPREMO can help

Send ADMIN the location and photos. NAPREMO can assess feasibility; structural assessment may need a qualified specialist.
