What you can do
- Compare another tap and test hot and cold water separately.
- Remove the aerator only as the tap manual describes. Cover the drain so you do not lose the seal.
- Clean it with a manufacturer-approved product, rinse and refit. Do not assume vinegar suits every finish.
How to tell whether it helped
Flow should be even and the joint dry. No improvement means the cause may be upstream.
When to stop
Stop if the fitting is stuck, the tap leaks or several outlets are affected. Do not force it or dismantle supply connections.
